How to Become an IAS Officer After 12th?

Students should review the UPSC eligibility requirements here before starting their IAS Exam preparation to learn how to become an IAS officer after the 12th grade.

Nationality: 

To be eligible, a candidate needs to be an Indian citizen or someone who originated in Bhutan, Nepal, or Tibet and immigrated to India before January 1962.

IAS Age Requirement: 

An applicant must be between the ages of 21 and 32. The OBC and SC/ST categories of candidates are eligible for an age relaxation. Below are the categories for the UPSC age restriction, relaxation, and maximum attempts.

–There can be up to six attempts in the General Category, with a maximum age limit of 32 years.

–The OBC Category has a 35-year-old maximum age limit and allows for nine attempts.

–The maximum age limit for the SC/ST Category is 37, and there are unlimited attempts until the upper age limit is reached.

Educational IAS Qualification for Exam: 

The candidate must have a graduation degree from a government-recognized university. Additionally, candidates in their final year awaiting results are also eligible to appear for the UPSC Prelims exam.
